6 Steps to Drip Email-Marketing Campaign

Email marketing can be a great tool to fill your marketing funnel but you have to do it right. How many times have you seen a commercial once and bought something? Probably never. With limited attention spans only getting more limited, keeping your business top of mind is super important to driving results. To do that, you’ll have to add users to your audience. Email marketing is a great way to do that, but you’ll have to reach them more than once.

Drip email campaigns take your broad reach and narrow it down to users who have shown interest in your product or services and continue to reach new users. Here’s the gist of how to make a drip campaign work for you:

  1. Buy a list Purchasing a list is the first step. Most data collectors and email marketing agencies won’t give you a list of the emails to use on your own (because of CAN-SPAM certifications). They will however take your email and sent it to a list of people they have that fit your demographic.

  2. Launch your email Once you create your email, have all of your tracking set up, you can launch your first send! If you don’t already, make sure you have pixels placed on the site that you’re sending users so that you’re able to add them to your audience for other marketing tactics i.e. social media, targeted display, etc.

  3. Wait a week You’ll want to give the recipients time to receive and take action on your email. Most email vendors should be able to separate them into 3 different groups – UNREAD, OPENED, OPENED + CLICKED

  4. Take engaged users + add to the audience To make the most of your money, we’re going to move forward marketing to users who have engaged (opened or opened+clicked) with your first outreach. You CAN just send to that list but if you have more emails to reach, add them in as well.

  5. Send another email Take that new audience of engaged and new users and send another email.

  6. REPEAT!
